Back in April 2009, we received a call from the then Mr UK, a mum & her 5 kits had been left outside the store! Like any new mum, she was proud and radiant, her babes only 4 weeks old but all healthy. They joined us at the shelter and within a short time the two pretty girl kits were homed, followed by mum. However, the three ginger boys, as charming as they were, seemed to get over-looked, time passed and before we knew it, they were celebrating their first birthday with us.
Then we read with much interest a bi-weekly column written by Sandra Marshall of Almerimar Strays (alstrays.com), we made contact, Sandra took time out of her busy schedule to come down visit us at the shelter and, within days of working closely together, we got the ultimate call to say that wonderful homes had been found for the three boys in Germany. It was very mixed emotions for us, sad to see them go, but happy in the knowledge that life was just beginning for Robin, Rufus and Rusty. We receive regular updates on the three boys, they are happily settled in their loving homes and, well, this is what makes it all worth while.
PAWS Cats and Almerimar Strays continue in our joint efforts to help stray and abandoned cats, however we are always keen to hear from anyone who feels they could assist in some way, particularly with short-term fostering.
